Well, I didn't think I'd come back to this blog
but recently I've been thinking about starting
it back up. I think it's because I like the
idea of sharing thoughts with like minded people.
No, not many of my friends share the same convictions
as our family, unfortunately. I am trying to persuade
some though! We are reformed minded Baptists who homeschool and don't believe in using birth control. That makes us pretty rare in our southern community. So it's nice to read the thoughts of others of the web with the same convictions. I'm still learning and growing in my understanding of God and different aspects of theology and I love to discuss that with other people. I hope that this blog will be interesting enough to cause some to stop and read.
I am not that computer savvy so I may not be able to link to certain articles or make this blog as technically interesting as some. This is my dear husband's forte. So please bear with me.
Now for a little more about myself and our family. My husband and I have been married for eight years and we have three children, ages 7, 4 1/2 and almost 3. We have been homeschooling the past two years and really love it. Of course, it's hard but nothing worth doing is supposed to be easy.
This brings me to my thought for the day. Recently I read on someone's blog about a resolution that was crafted for the Southern Baptist Convention. It called for those Christian parents in the SBC to pull their children out of the government schools and place them either in private Christian schools or homeschool them. Their reasoning was strong and based on the Scripture. Unfortunately many have commented that this resolution won't see the light of day when the convention starts in June. I for one, though, don't want to have such a pessimistic attitude towards the SBC since our family attends an SBC church. Remember the admonition in James about the prayers of a righteous man. Remember the many faithful saints in church history who lived lives of incredible faith in praying for the impossible (George Mueller comes to mind). There are many others. Let's not look at the state of the church in U.S. from a worldly lens of pessimism. If we believe strongly in these things (i.e. the doctrines of grace, raising our children in the nurture and admonition of the Lord by taking them out of a godless educational system) than let's prove it by our fervent, effectual prayers of faith.
