AM I CRAZY???
I've been stepping up my workouts the last several weeks and I've had a crazy thought pass through my mind - maybe I could do a mini triathlon? As soon as I start to think about it I think to myself, "What? Are you crazy? When could you find the time for that? And what about swimming in a lake? Gross!" Well, today I took the next step and started looking around for actual races. I didn't even know how long these legs would be. I found one at Callaway Gardens to be held in June. The swim is 1/4 mile, the bike is 10 miles and the run is 2 miles. The website says it's a great race for beginners.
So...what do you think? Am I crazy?

That would be so great! I bet you could do it!
Hi Roberta! Thanks for the encouragement. I told my husband and he recommended I start small like just do some road races first. I think that's wise. He used to be a collegiate runner so I trust him.
That sounds great, actually! I am not really a sports person but over the last 17 years my husband and I have enjoyed hiking mountains together and now have our children doing it with us. This year we are taking up kayaking. At least it is something! I think you should go for it!
Glad your husband has wise advice.
I admire your desire and ability.
Meredith,
You are not crazy! I think it is great that you want to try a new challenge! I do think that the Lord is calling us all to new things this year...why not some road races?
Praise the Lord!
WAHOO! Go Meredith! I have two friends who did an actual marathon. Between them they have 11 children! Go for it! And blog about it!

Whoops. Posted my comment before reading everyone else's.
:-)
Wouldn't want it to seem like I was encouraging you to do something you and your hubby had thought was unwise! I was just being enthusiastic!!!!
:-D
Yeah for you! I've been woefully out of the exercise loop since I had Adam ("I have a new baby" no longer works as an excuse!) Good for you and good job on the Polar Bear Run! I was a collegiate swimmer and I will tell you the swimming in open water WITH MANY PEOPLE will be the hard part. There's really no way to train for that, but at least you have the other two events to make up time.
Hi Jill! Good to see your comment. I admit the open water swimming is kind of a weird concept for me. I grew up swimming in pools and the thought of walking on the bottom of a lake or pond was always gross to me. I guess I should plan on wearing water socks/shoes or whatever they're called.
