SOME INTERESTING THINGS GOING ON
Congratulations are in order for my blog friend Karen and her husband Erik on expecting another child. Lord willing, this will be #7. We're rejoicing with you Engstrom family!!

Last night I gave my 8yo son his first clarinet lesson. He's been interested for a while so I thought I would start him on the basics. For those who aren't aware, I teach clarinet and play some professionally. Anyway, he really surprised me. I only let him play half the instrument since he doesn't have the strength to support the whole instrument yet and he doesn't need the bottom half to work on the basics of embouchure and finger position. Some of my middle school students struggle with playing in tune and supporting their tone. My little guy was not only doing way above what I thought he could do but he was also doing it on my reeds which are a lot harder than what someone normally starts on. So today we are off to get him some softer reeds. I really don't want to have any expectations for him. Just for him to learn and have fun.

My dear husband has been going through the wringer at work so we're off tonight to a B&B and then tomorrow we will be going wild at Six Flags. He says there's one roller coaster he will absolutely not go on but maybe I can convince him otherwise. Thanks to my parents for driving over to take care of the kids.

Have a very special weekend. B&B's are so relaxing. Roller Coaster's...well I suppose they can be a tension reliever too!
Enjoy!
