I WANT TO BE FAT
"My soul is satisfied as with marrow and fatness, and my mouth offers praises with joyful lips." Psalm 63:5
How often do I feed upon the slop of the world and find my mouth filled with ashes?
"They drink their fill of the abundance (literally-fatness) of Thy house; and Thou dost give them to drink of the river of Thy delights." Psalm 36:8
He offers, He gives. I am too often indifferent and bloated by my own self-sufficiency.
"Why do you spend your money for what is not bread, and your wages for what does not satisfy? Listen carefully to Me, and eat what is good and delight yourself in abundance."
Isaiah 55:2
"O taste and see that the Lord is good..." Psalm 34:8
Yes, Lord, why do I do this? And how exactly does listening go with eating and tasting go with seeing?
"And the Lord of hosts will prepare a lavish banquet (literally-feast of fat things) for all peoples on this mountain; a banquet of aged wine, choice pieces with marrow, and refined, aged wine." Isaiah 25:6
"'And I will fill the soul of the priests with abundance, (literally-saturate with fatness) and My people shall be satisfied with My goodness,' declares the Lord." Jeremiah 31:14
God does not skimp. Over and over in His word we see the use of words like abundance, lavish, overwhelmingly conquer, and exceeding abundantly beyond. The other day I was reading something out of a little book called Pierced by the Word by John Piper. He was talking about how to be filled with the Spirit. He made the point that being drunk on the Spirit, as opposed to wine, entails immersing ourselves in Scripture and praying according to what that Scripture says. His words of exhortation at the end were these - drink and pray, drink and pray. According to the Scriptures I've just mentioned I feel the Lord wants me to use these words -

Drink and believe.
I like that.
It goes well with what was taught at church today.
Drink and believe.
this seems to be the theme of the day for me, everywhere God is saying,
Come get real with me. See that I am what you need, in the midst of the chaos, in the midst of the fire, I am there. Come, I am preparing a table for you in the midst of it...
Thanks for saying your piece
