You know, I thought I would explain the title of this blog, Entdraughts. I thought about changing it but I really do like it even though it might be confusing to some.
In The Lord of the Rings, The Two Towers, Merry and Pippin (hobbits who are by nature, small creatures) meet up with the ents, one of which is Treebeard. Ents are ancient trees. They stay with Treebeard and the ents for a while and during their stay they have several draughts of this special drink that is able to replace even food itself. It also has the amazing effect of making these hobbits grow larger than normal size.
I thought the effect of this drink could be analogous to the effect we receive when we drink in the living Word from the Bible and grow in grace and knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ. Therefore, these blogs are hopefully and humbly an attempt to help me grow and think more Christlike.
One more thought, please excuse the poor grammar or any misspelled words. I am actually very intelligent and a college graduate (Go U Northwestern!!) but I just don't have time to edit my posts for absolutely correct grammar, spelling and punctuation. I'm blessed to have time just to write them.

I haven't posted anything in quite a while because 1) I'm busy with my three children and husband and 2) I haven't decided what to write. Now I've decided that I'm just going to write whatever comes to mind and is important to me.
One comment, I thought it revealing yesterday as I thought about what to write that I was contemplating how this blog could be sort of accountability to me. For example, if I write about something I'm trying to start or stop doing, this blog could kind of hold me accountable. How silly and shortsighted of me to forget and dismiss the fact that the Lord knows my ways and knows every thought before I think it!! And we shall all give account of our deeds to Him. Note to self - meditate on this truth.
Thought for today (and the last couple) -
Why do I have to have some sort of media occupying my brain? Whether it's TV, radio, music or just white noise, why am I afraid of silence? This has bothered me for a long time and it was recently confirmed by something Ken Myers writes in All God's Children and Blue Suede Shoes (fabulous book by the way). I am trying not to have something "babysitting" my brain all the time. Silence is a good and helpful thing and a very rare commodity in our fast paced society. Maybe as a mother I'm so used to multitasking that I just can't do one thing at a time in a deliberate manner. I'm going to start working on this. I'll let you know how it goes.

I'm becoming more and more convinced of this one thing - those who hold to a purely biblical worldview are the only ones who stand on solid ground. Those who believe the Bible is absolute truth and make it their foundation for living are the only ones who will not be shaken. All others are just carried along by the most recent wave of popular opinion or philosophy.
Here are some examples --
1) I just read at Dr. Grant's blog how scientists are harvesting immature ovaries out of aborted babies so as to mature them and grow eggs for infertile couples. The inhumane irony of this disgusts me.
2) Rush Limbaugh has been ranting against gay marriage for a couple days but only today did he barely hit on the reason against it - that marriage was creating by God as the foundation of the family and the society. Any other argument he would have against gay marriage really doesn't cut to the core of the issue.
If this is true, and I believe it is, it makes it even more important to steep ourselves in biblical truth so as not to be stained and corrupted by what the world believes.
